[If you’d like a two pages long description of the most important events in Keith’s life up until this point, as well as how he relates to the people in said events, I have that too, but it felt a bit much text to add here.]
Personality
Temperamental » There’s a reason why Keith connected with the Red Lion first (and continues to maintain a strong connection with it, even though he pilots the Black Lion now). Keith is temperamental— Moody, if you will. Though generally calm, if something happens that he doesn’t agree with or that upsets him in some way, he might lose his cool without a warning, yelling and arguing and generally lashing out. He’s stolen (the equivalent of) cars and threatened important alien leaders before, just as an example.
Determined » Or Stubborn? Depends on the point of view, I guess. When Keith gets something in his mind, he won’t give up until he sees it through. If this means that he has to face impossible odds or even argue with people that he cares about—He will. He won’t easily stop from doing what he believes is right or needed for the success of the mission (or his own personal reasons or beliefs).
Impulsive » His impulsiveness comes hand-in-hand with how temperamental and determined he is. He will jump into situations without a second thought, no matter how dangerous they are, if he feels like he can do something to make them better or help solve them. This brashness can sometimes put him (and the team) in danger, but it has also saved them countless times or bought them enough time to make it out alive/successfully complete the mission.
Protective » Because Keith has dealt with a lot of loss in his life, he is extremely protective of those he cares about who are still around. Unwavering loyal to these people, he will go to great lengths to keep them safe, including putting his life on the line as many times as it takes to make sure ‘his people’ are well and safe, no matter the consequences.
Socially awkward » Because Keith hasn’t exactly grown up surrounded by people and always built walls around himself to protect himself from being hurt even when he was (like in school or the Garrison), he has never been very good at connecting with others. This makes it so some social cues and situations just… go completely over his head, without him meaning to. So some sayings, jokes or actions others say/make/do might not be understood by him as such or in a more “socially common” way, which means that he might give them more or less meaning than what they actually have.
Honest » In spite of (or maybe because of) his social awkwardness, Keith is an extremely honest person. Though this might lead to trouble sometimes – because he has trouble reading social situations and will say things he shouldn’t and make situations worse – it also means that, when he says something heartfelt, he definitely means it. He has no problem admitting he is wrong where others could be deterred by pride and he tells his important people that he loves them, without shame or embarrassment. If he ever lies – and he has – it’s obvious in his body language and it comes from a need to protect himself or what he feels: part of the walls that he builds up to keep himself from being hurt, from fear of rejection or loss.
Understanding » Keith has a way of understanding others that could be considered uncommon for someone with his social issues and that gets more and more obvious as the show progresses (and he grows with it). He can understand when people have certain reactions and, instead of lashing out, like he might otherwise, or not caring, he will try to make it better by either not pressing matters, not bringing up certain things or doing his very best to be supportive, in his own way. Though he is not always the greatest at expressing himself or what he feels, thinks or wants through things like words and conversations (he’s getting better though!), these thoughtful actions tend to show how much he cares.
Special Abilities
Ability-wise, Keith used to be at the top of his class of fighter pilots. He is a great pilot (mainly when he has speed to work with), who also has pretty good navigational and survival capabilities. Besides, he is also an excellent fighter. Not only can he manage well enough when it comes to fist-fights, he trains with his bayard a lot and later joins a ninja/assassin-like group that trains him even more (and better) on how to use his sword. He is fast and ambidextrous, making him an asset in the battlefield in terms of skill: what he might lack in strength (he is not a heavy-weapon user) and aim (his aim isn’t the greatest, mainly if the idea is to save up bullets), he more than makes up for in speed and light-sword techniques.
When it comes to powers, Keith is half-Galra (a powerful alien-species), however, in spite of his Galra heritage, he seems to be as human as they come in terms of powers. He does - only rarely and in very specific intense, desperate and life threatening situations - gain some mild Galra features (his eyes change into a more cat-like look and his teeth seem to get sharper) that only seem to last a couple of seconds but that do seem to give him some extra strength for that particular moment.
There also seems to be some connection between Keith and Quintessence (think of it as “life force” of sorts, if you will, something like the lifestream, for the Final Fantasy VII savvy), but whatever that connection might be, which was hinted at a couple of times before, like many other things in the last season, was completely disregarded and left unexplained. As such, all that I can really say is that he seems to be connected to it in some stronger way but there was no canon-given explanation as to what this connection is or means, exactly, or why he has it. So, uh. /shrugs?
For this game in particular, though Keith will arrive from a point in time where he should have his paladin armor and his bayard, he will arrive with none of that. Instead, he will come with his usual clothes (including the jacket!) and no weapons whatsoever. I would, however, like to keep his Galra features. It’s part of him, after all, and it’s in no way game-breaking: they only seem to last for a couple of seconds and only serve to give him more strength or viciousness to survive certain (extreme) life-threatening moments or only come out during experiences that really affect him, one way or the other.
